Suryavanshi is a left-handed batter in the Bihar Cricket Team, and has represented India in the Under-19 tournament in September 2024.
He made his first-class cricket debut in Bihar’s Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai in January 2024, becoming the fourth youngest Ranji Trophy player overall and the youngest Ranji Trophy player from Bihar.
He scored a century in India’s Under-19 match against Australia in 58 balls, which is the fastest century for a U-19 player.
In the upcoming IPL 2025, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping Rs 1.10 crore, making him the youngest person to sign an IPL contract!
This development sparked a lot of praise for the youngster and memes on the internet, with users comparing what they were up to as teens to this feat!
However, following the announcement, there was also a dispute about his actual age. While it was announced that he was 13 years old right now, netizens found a 2023 interview in which he said that he would turn 14 that year, making him 15 years in the present.
Responding to the allegations, his family reiterated that he was born in 2011, and that he was ready to take an age test if necessary.
Irrespective of his actual age — 13 or 15 — Vaibhav is still the youngest player to be taken on board by an IPL team!
