The much-anticipated boxing showdown between the former world champion Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul was held on Friday, November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, USA.
Paul, at the age of 27, won over the great 'Iron Mike' (as he is popularly known) who is 58 years old now.
The eight-round fight, which was streamed live on Netflix, saw judges scoring the fight 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in favour of Paul.
Tyson hinted at plans to stay un-retired. When asked if it was his last fight, he said, "I don't know. It depends on the situation." Remember, the 58-year-old Tyson has been suffering from a couple of health ailments.
Over the years, Tyson has been suffering from acute sciatica pain, ulcers, and more. In fact, the crippling back pain from sciatica was so severe that he had to use a wheelchair in the year 2022.
After the rounds ended, Paul bowed down to show his respect to the former world champion and called Mike Tyson G.O.A.T.
Billed as the biggest boxing match of 2024, according to Forbes, Mike Tyson is to get $20 million from the fight while Jake Paul will get $40 million.
Netflix, the streaming giant responsible for telecasting the boxing match, faced backlash as it crashed sometime before the match began. According to Downdetector.com, a website tracking service disturbances, 80,000 people in the US and 1,295 people in India reported issues.
