Today, at the Paralympics 2024, Avani aced the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event with bronze medalist Mona Agarwal
Her breakthrough moment was at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Avani won two medals — gold in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event and bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 event.
Avani has received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri, Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna, Young Indian of the Year, and Para Athlete of the Year.
Lekhara born in 2001 in Rajasthan has been wheelchair-bound since the age of 11 after a car accident.
Avani says Olympic gold medallist and retired sport shooter Abhinav Bindra's win motivated her to embark on this journey
