With the initiative of Tripura-born woman Purnima Nath, Governor of Wisconsin, US, Scott Walker has declared August 15 this year as India Day, honouring India and it's citizens.

"India Day at Wisconsin - a grandeur statewide observation of India, beyond borders, boundaries, religion, region and language.

Hoisting and honoring India's flag flying high, in the land of Wisconsin state of America has overwhelmed Indians residing in the state," she said.

She mentioned it was a milestone for all the South Asian Indian population in the state of Wisconsin, which bridged the gap between India and US and encouraged the cause of promoting diversity, inclusion, education, and collaboration.

"We have been celebrating India fest on August 15 in Wisconsin for last five years, but in the 6th year the Governor has declared it as India Day and India fest will now be on August 18," she added.
