Unemployed youth in Raichur on Friday morning gathered to cook Pakoda's after PM Narendra Modi remarked in a recent televised interview that people who can make pakodas, can be considered employed.  The programme is organised by the youth wing of Jana Sangram Samiti.

On Friday morning, as many as 50 unemployed youth gathered near Tipu Sultan Park and cooked pakodas and served people. It may be recalled that in a televised interview, PM Modi had asked the interviewer that if someone cooks pakodas outside the studio, they can also be considered employed. This statement of Modi resulted in various memes and also drew flak from opposition parties and a certain section of the society.

Aslam, a member who is part of this event, told Express that the Centre and state have failed to provide employment to youth as it was promised. On top of that, as a result of demonetisation, many people have lost jobs both in organised and unorganised sectors. It must be observed that unorganised sector is the most hit.

The government is lagging back on its promise of generating employment. He added that the PM has considered pakoda making a job or employment, which is sad. This is a symbolic demonstration to tell the governments that if the rulers fail to provide jobs, there will be no option for the youth but to take up pakoda-making, he said.
