After the rioting on campus on Wednesday night, the Sathyabama University administration has decided to shut down the college till January 3, 2018.

All the students on campus have been asked to vacate the hostels and all the classes have been canceled. There were ongoing exams in the college that have also been postponed to January. Students said that there were three exams left but the management had not yet sent an official notification about the same.

"All the college students are standing outside on the roads figuring out a way to get home. We've just been asked to leave but we haven't received an official mail, I think we'll get a message soon, " a student said.

Students went on a rampage on Wednesday night after Duvvuru Raga Monica Reddy, a first-year student committed suicide after getting caught cheating during an exam. Students burnt hostel property including furniture, mattresses, fans and also broke the library glass doors and bus windows too.

The students claimed that the staff in college had on many occasions and shamed students in front of the whole class. Students also complained the atmosphere in the college was always threatening and they had no freedom inside the campus.

The college management did not respond to repeated calls.
