It's Festember time for NIT Tiruchy and over 1K college students from across India are attending

The fest, which will centre around it's theme for the year 'Orient', will also showcase flavours of East and SouthEast Asian countries

The 43rd edition of Festember, 'a fest to remember,' the cultural fest of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchy, began on a grand scale on Thursday, with the theme 'Orient'. NIT's four-day annual cultural fest is on till to September 24 and 1,500 participants from across the country have come down to experience the flavours of the East and SouthEast Asian countries, with all events and ambiance centered on the theme.

Inaugurating the event, chief guest AMS Joseph, Wing Commander, Indian Air Force spoke positively of cultural events as a tool to develop students' personalities. 

Cultural events develop the overall personality of  students. Organisational and management skills can be learned through such events. Events like Festember are a platform for students to be motivated and to work in a team. Let everyone enjoy planning and participating in the festival

Festember,with over forty years of heritage, has grown to become one of the largest college-festivals in India with thousands of students assembling to participate in the various competitions, and for a chance to win the acclaimed Festember trophy. 

Hanzo the Ninja is this year's mascot, who personifies and symbolises the very spirit of Festember.

On the first evening, Shravan Sridhar, a non-violinist project and his troupe engrossed the audience with their soulful performance. Guests from various fields are invited to enlighten and enrich the audience in the upcoming events . 

Other events that are planned for the festivals are Therukoothu, rock night,
Kalakkal Kalatta and popular night


Unleashing the cultural fest on day 2, a choreo night has been planned and DJ Shaan, a well known artist is to lead the programme.  Bollywood singer Amit Trivedi and his troupe will perform on the last day of Festember, on September 24.

Guest lectures by famous personalities from various fields including VFX expert, Michael Karp, Singer Srinivas, Poet Aranya Johar, Writer and film critic Baradwaj Rangan, and others.
