Drones have always fascinated people and wouldn't it be cool if you knew how to build one? Yes, this one is for the drone enthusiasts. St Peter’s Institute of Higher Education And Research, Chennai is organising a one-day workshop on Training on UAV (Quadcopter). The workshop will acquaint students with the basics of UAVs especially quadcopter and help them to develop the skill set of how to design, fabricate and control a drone. Some of the takeaways from the workshop will be— introduction and design of UAV’s, control, navigation, guidance and application of drone technology. 

"Today, drones are playing a vital role in various industrial, commercial and military purposes. And this trend will only increase further because this technology can be used basically for anything. This workshop will enable students to understand the basics of drone flying and aerodynamics. It will also teach students to build a drone from scratch and build innovative ideas as real-time projects. The purpose of this workshop is to make people understand the fundamentals of drone technology," said L Mahesh Kumar, Director (Academics), St Peter's Institute of Higher Education and Research.

Who can participate in the workshop? Anyone who is interested to know about drones and the technology can be a part of the workshop. "The workshop is open to anybody who is interested to learn about flying a drone. We are also open to school students as we believe it will provide them the required practical knowledge about drone technology. At the end of the workshop, the students will be asked to build a drone and will be provided with a drone kit. They will also be given the opportunity to fly the best drone models built in the workshop," he adds.

The cost of attending the workshop is Rs 350 and students will be mentored by the faculty of Department of Aeronautics as well as the experts from the field. And the best part is that whoever attends the workshop will be given a certificate by the institute. Not only this. The best drone models built by the students will also be awarded.
